Can Do Welfare Service

Welfare Support Service

Many disabled adults and their carers have found the recent benefit changes very stressful and have not known which way to turn to ensure they have the money they need to live on. Disability Can Do has provided a Big Lottery funded service since April 2014, helping people to manage this stress and navigate their way through the changes.

During this time (updated May 2016), Disability Can Do's Welfare Support Service has supported over 1800 people in the Caerphilly and Blaenau Gwent County Boroughs with benefits advice, income maximisation and confidence building. Their team of staff and volunteers have helped individuals to understand their benefit entitlement and to claim over £3.5 million in unclaimed benefits. This is evidence of their knowledge, experience and success.
